Get Rid of Dress FOMO: Dressit is leading the charge in shaking up what it means to shop for wedding dresses

National Bridal Market Chicago | Spring 2024 Insights

In a world where Gen Z is setting new rules, the old ways of shopping just aren't cutting it anymore. Vogue Business says it best: this generation is about finding something honest and inspiring, pushing brands to get on their level. That's precisely where Dressit is stepping in as a disruptor in the wedding industry. Created by Becca Wenning, Dressit is all about mixing her bridal know-how with some fierce tech smarts, leading the charge in shaking up what it means to shop for wedding dresses. With a mix of data, psychology, gamification, and tech, Dressit is here to show how it's done when it comes to connecting with the modern bride and her "crew" (a term we learned about and loved last weekend referring to the friends and family of the bride).

“No More Dress FOMO” was our tagline at our big debut moment at the National Bridal Market Chicago last week that generated a ton of Dressit buzz in and around booth 5018. Hearing from industry professionals like Grace from Behind Bridal, who told us, and also excitedly directed others to our booth, “We have been needing this for years!” really proved we’re on to something big. The validation from shop owners and designers was unmistakable: Dressit isn’t just another new idea; it’s the game-changer bridal fashion has been waiting for.

Dressit's Journey: Where Bridal Meets Innovation

Helping brides curate their dream dress selection and connecting them to the stores that have the inventory to bring it all to life. That’s the dream Becca had when she started Dressit. Going from being in the trenches as a bridal boutique owner and then working at a tech startup, Becca’s seen it all. She’s focused on getting what brides need, backing up boutiques, and making sure you go from loving a dress online to trying it on in-store without missing a beat. By tackling the big headaches of bridal shopping, and the frustrations of shop owners, with some smart tech, Becca and her team are making Dressit the go-to for rethinking how brides, boutiques, and designers all come together.

Having been a buyer for her bridal shop for 10 years, Becca knew how to attract buzz at the event. “Everyone loves a great bag to put all their line sheets in!”

Real Talk: Influencers, Success Stories, and “the Crew”

In this digital age, nothing beats a thumbs-up from someone you trust, especially your crew, who will be supporting you. Dressit is about building a place where the real deal in stories and experiences helps you find the dress of your dreams. We're teaming up with genuine people and real-deal brick-and-mortar stores, sharing success stories and real inspiration by connecting real brides to the curated inventory of their Pinterest dreams.

Gen Z Vibes: Blending Digital Dreams with Real-Life Magic

Gen Z’s shopping game is all about mixing the best of online browsing with those fun in-person moments. Being a mom to three Gen Z’ers, Becca totally gets this. As noted in a Vogue article ‘Despite their reputation as digital natives, Gen Z shoppers still value in-person experiences. Brick-and-mortar stores are an important component in their fashion and beauty consumption.’ Dressit makes it easy, bringing together the dream of finding your gown online with the reality of trying it on in a boutique that feels just right. This hits the spot for the 74% of Gen Z shoppers and 66% of Millennials who think IRL experiences are more important than digital ones- making sure Dressit’s right where it needs to be for them.

Leading the Way: Dressit’s Vision for Bridal Fashion’s Future

With a former bridal boutique owner at the helm, and backed by Maggie Lord, a wedding industry trailblazer and highly sought-after advisor, Dressit isn’t just keeping up with the times; it’s setting the pace. Dressit stands at the intersection of digital browsing and in-store experiences and we’re all about bridging the gap between online and in-store moments, creating bridal journeys as special as the big day itself. We’re not just reacting to what brides want and what boutiques need; we’re one step ahead, preserving the delicate wedding ecosystem where every bride, boutique, and designer discovers their perfect match. Dressit is on a mission to make bridal fashion accessible, fun, inclusive, sustainable, personalized, and something you’ll never forget.
